Fresh Figs have been a trend. We all are familiar with dry figs since ages and perhaps use it all the time. I wasn’t much into Fresh Figs, probably because of the squishy texture, until I had it with mascarpone cheese and realized how good it tastes. I love my fruits and most of the times rely on them whenever hungry especially when I have had raw greens for a while. The word Salad itself seems boring most of the times because all we imagine is a bowl of leaves, tomatoes, cucumber with some salt and pepper. I was the same until after that I visited many places for breakfast and lunch, that I realized how many different options we have but don’t think of! After buying a few fresh figs, the main task was to plate up something out of it or end up having it on its own. Well, this so delicate fruit needs to be used in a day or two so had to plan something quick. Apparently Fresh Figs is something that you can pair up with almost anything you like and there are least chances you would go wrong. With Autumn coming to an end, I paired it up with Watermelon and made a dressing using Orange Juice. Of course needed a crunch and what better than walnuts? I had it on its own but you can have it as a side with something that’s a bit dry to have. I would love it with my slice of Frittata! Try this very quick one and you will have it again!
100gms watermelon, diced2 to 3 Figs, slicedFresh Orange Juice of 1 Orange1 tbsp. honey or maple syrup2 tsp. lemon juice
- Mix Orange juice, lemon juice and honey in a small sauce pan and cook on a medium heat till it starts boiling. Allow it to cool at room temperature and then refrigerate till chilled.
- Place watermelon and figs on a plate, sprinkle chopped walnuts and generously drizzle the chilled dressing.
- You can add more fruits of your choice, for example Black grapes would go really well.
- Quantity of fruits is your choice, can adjust dressing accordingly.
