Guacamole

Guacamole; A dip of a mexican origin with Avocado as its main ingredient that you want to prefer or a condiment you will love!! Spread it on fresh baked bread or serve with some handmade chips or dip some corn chips in it, it will always satisfy your tastebuds. Quick to make with just a few ingredients, guacamole can be your last minute snack prep. With the simple nutritious ingredients, its a very good option even as a spread on your egg & bread breakfast toast!!

Ingredients:

1 ripe avocado, chopped or mashed
1/2 tomato, finely chopped
1/2 Red onion, finely chopped
1/2 lemon or lime
1-2 tblspn olive oil
1 tspn sea salt

Method:

  1. Soak chopped onion in cold water for about 5-7 minutes. This will help to prevent the raw onion smell. This dip being a Mexican origin, prefer a red onion to get the juicy flavour of it.

  2. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and serve with your choice of sides.

3. Due to the presence of polyphenol oxidase in the cells of avocado, exposure to oxygen in the air causes an enzymatic reaction and develops pigment, turning the avocado/guacamole brown. So in case you want to make more, store in an air tight container or cover the avocado with a cling wrap. In short, avoid exposure of avocado to oxygen.
